Rabbi Dr. Aryeh Yosef Krawczyk, Ph.D.

Broken Biographies Project

Academic scholar with senior experience and proven background in Jewish studies (academia.edu). Aryeh Yosef Krawczyk, provides all the necessary knowledge to lead the Center competently.

He was born 1981, M.A. in Studies of Religions at Jagiellonian University, Cracow 2006, Paideia Korczak Fellow Alumnus 2004, Ph.D. in Hebrew Medieval Literature at Adam Mickiewicz University of Pozznań. Authored books on kabbalistic traditions of r. Abraham Abulafia and other related topics.

He received Rabbinic ordination at the rabbinical seminary Or Jonatan in Hamburg, 2022.

Frederieke Mensching

Graves Reservation

Frieda L. O. Mensching, born in 1952, holds a diploma in education (academic qualification). She worked as a physical and learning therapist and is responsible for “Graves Reservation”. Drawing on many years of expertise in various Jewish projects, Ms. Mensching aims to further develop the Graves Reservation and address questions such as:

What fate befell those who tried to save themselves by leaving the Jewish community?

Who were the people who recorded these reservations and managed the cards?

What became of those who emigrated?

Why did the prices for grave processing fluctuate so drastically?

Which organizations were involved in cemetery administration?

Aaron Kindermann, Ph.D.

Author

Dr Aaron Kindermann studied British, US-American as well as Russian literature and completed his Ph.D. in British Literature at the University of Hamburg on the relation of space and memory in contemporary Anglo-Jewish novels. 

From 2014 to 2016 he was a Postdoc-fellow at the Free University Berlin, he further taught British Literature at the University of Hamburg and the Leuphana University Lueneburg.

Since 2020 he teaches English, Jewish Religion, and Jewish Philosophy at the Joseph Carlebach Bildungshaus Hamburg. 

His main fields of research are Anglo-Jewish literature, representations of religious identities in British poetry, literary representations of space as well as (auto-) biographic literature.

Mussi Baicz

Author

Mushka Baicz was born in Israel in 2001.

Her family has deep roots in Hamburg, reaching back to the city's early Jewish history.

In 2003, the family moved to Hamburg - a step back to their family roots.

She grew up in Hamburg and attended the Jewish School there, where her grandfather had also studied before World War II.

She completed her high school diploma and university entrance qualification in Haifa, Israel.

She then studied at the Shaanan Religious Academic College of Education in Haifa, where she earned her Bachelor of Education degree.

Since graduating, she has lived in Hamburg again, teaches at the Jewish School, and will assume the school's Jewish leadership role in 2025.

Ahron Moeller, M.A.

Author

Ahron Moeller is a photo Journalist. 

His family traces back to Hamburg from 1750. He was born in New York, but continued the German Jewish ritual traditions through his family who immigrated from Germany in 1939.

Ahron’s projects hope to create an interest of ‘bringing a Wimple’ back to life in Germany. With an emphasis on connecting descendants to their ancestors through family preserved art - he hopes to create a story of the family’s narrative  in their post Europe experience.

Annual conference

The center is a place for networking and strives to make knowledge accessible to everyone. To promote networking, a conference with four international guest speakers takes place once a year.
